Yikes, I’ve been tagged…

Chloe

My current photo of my Great Granddaughter, just got it Tuesday evening late!

I’ve been tagged… Help….

What were you doing 10 years ago?  Starting a Home Missions Church, Working, we had just moved into our home and was painting, papering, etc.

What were you doing 1 year ago? Traveling to my first-born grandson’s graduation in Wisconsin.

Five Snacks You Enjoy:  Yogurt Pretzels, Cheeze Crackers, Apples with Peanut Butter, Windmill Cookies with Coffee… and MANY MORE.

Five Songs That You Know All The Lyrics To:  Joy Unspeakable, Amazing Grace, What a Friend We Have in Jesus, My God is Real,  I’ll Fly Away and many more of the “old hyms”, … I think I still know them by heart.

Five Things You Would Do If You Were a Millionaire:  Pay my tithes and offering, pay all my bills and my kids bills, travel, donate, donate, donate, buy my 40-acres!

Five Bad Habits:  I can “piddle” forever around the house and never get anything done if I’m not careful… the rest is my secret and I’m working on them!

Five Things You Like To Do: Read, WRITE, photography, play with my grandkids and visit family, walk around my yard enjoying the flowers and wildlife.

Five Things You Would Never Wear Again:  I hate to wear nylons…but do when I have too.  Shoes only as required.  NEVER wear my hair teased up in a BIG DO like we used too, tight turtle neck sweaters, tight clothes.

Five Favorite Toys:  Hand held solitaire game, those little razor scooters are cool, I didn’t play with dolls much when I was young, I played with cars and trucks outside in the dirt.  I guess, I was just a tomboy to my mother’s dismay.  But I grew out of it… sorta.  I still play in the dirt with my flowers.  Good excuse anyway.

Flowers, Pets, and an occasional Grandkid

Just a mix of photos from around my house and area.  We finally got some rain.  We are so behind in rainfall it’s scary!  Everything is so dry and lawns are turning brown.

Also, please pray for our neighbor 4-5 houses uphill from us.  Their home burned yesterday around 2:45pm and they lost everything.  It’s a total loss.  I know they have insurance because they are with the company I work for.  When he came into the office today to complete filing the claim he looked so lifeless and just “beat”.  I felt so sorry for him.  While we realize that material possesions are not important… this man had worked two jobs, one with the City and a 3rd shift at the Erlanger Hospital (where my husband works) to buy his home and all.  I just can’t imagine losing my books and pictures, etc.  Clothes and furniture I could replace… but some of my keepsakes and all our books and photos… I simply can’t fathom the emotional feeling of that.  I was going to take a pic of their house this morning, but he was there rummaging through the melted piles.  I just couldn’t disturb him.  Then when I saw him a few hours later in the office,  I think he was still in shock and the reality of it all was sinking in on him.  Pray for this family… I’m just so glad they made it out without anyone getting hurt.  He didn’t even have shoes and socks on.  A neighbor gave him shoes and socks.  He was so impressed by the way our little neighborhood responded.  We are all still fairly close… we used to have block parties on the 4th of July and at various times throughout the year, even in the winter they’d have sledding parties.  The kids have all grown up now and we’ve all drifted apart… and we have new neighbors moving in… but we still have a particular closeness that you don’t get many places anymore.

Well… I think I’ve rambled enough… until next time.

Walnut Street Bridge

Walnut Street Bridge

The new header is of the Walnut Street Bridge in  Chattanooga, TN.  This bridge is only used for pedestrian traffic.  No cars allowed.  The bridge consists of wooden planks and there are benches every 15-20 feet.  The view is spectacular.  There isn’t anything like walking across (1/2 mile) and stopping mid-way, relaxing a bit and enjoying the cool breeze soothe your face while watching the water traffic below flowing up and down the river.    Our youngest son proposed to his wife on this bridge one night.  As you can tell we love it here.  We used to live within 1/2 mile of this bridge and could sit on our back deck and watch the fireworks every July or other celebrations and we could hear the Riverbend activities, but in 1996 we moved out of the downtown area.  In many ways I still miss it!  Although, I do enjoy the quietness of where we live now.

The river traffic is exceptionally busy this week for the Annual RIVERBEND Festival.  There is live entertainment every night on several different stages along the river front.  They highlight major entertainers.  On “Christian Family Night”this year … I think Jars of Clay is performing.  They’ve had all the Country and Jazz singers various years.  We used to have an annual FOLK Festival which was for the purpose of introducing different cultures and everyone to the food, music, dress, dance, and etc of each country.  That was interesting, especially the FOOD 😀 and Music.  I love the Celtic bluegrass and the Latino music.  We are, I guess you could say, a “small city”.

We are fully into summer time now!  Our first day of real “humidity” was Friday.  Whewww… I felt it the moment I walked out of the house to go to work.  Reminded me of just how much I enjoy spring!

Well, off to do some more chores…  😦  necessary for everyday living.
